At times interesting but ultimately confusing fantasy explination of the mad monk's life.

Considering I’ve read a graphic novel about a Japanese monk from hundreds of years ago, the story of the legendary Russian mystic doesn’t seem nearly as weird in comparison.
Someone kills a Hillary Clinton clone at a speech only to have Rasputin bring her back to life as he talks about watching his father die in the snow. A reporter saw him do it and wants to know how it happened, and the story switches between the present and his telling of how he became the way he is.
Which is incredibly confusing. I’ve done a bunch of research on Rasputin, and if this is how he managed to survive all those assassination attempts. . . hell, it’s as good as any other. But I still didn’t understand how it worked, and I doubt the reporter did either. There appears to be plenty of clues in the narrative, they just didn’t mesh. At one point it’s said he saved JFK after he was shot, making this an alternate universe, but I didn’t understand what that had to do with the story.
What really saves it is the humor; there’s one point where he actually says, “Be quiet, ghost.” Yeah, that’ll work.
I’m not a fan of the artwork; too angular. However, props to the depiction of Maria, who is the cutest little blonde girl I’ve ever seen drawn. The snow fairy—I doubt that’s what it was but can find no other way to describe it—is also beautifully done.
Bonus—script, complete with links and spelling mistakes; quotes, bios.
The final grade below is more for the story than the artwork, although it was damned confusing at times.

A new look at one of history’s “villains”

Not having read Volume 1, this was a bit of a mystery at first. This Rasputin travels through history, manipulating circumstances and using healing powers for his own benefit, leaving him accompanied by the ghosts of those that he has killed as her “enjoys” eternal life. He recounts parts of his life to a freelance journalist.

Cartoon-type illustrations work well here, reminiscent of the French “bande dessin�e” style and there’s plenty of bloodshed. Perhaps a bit brief when it comes to plot. However a good yarn, well recommended.

A sloppy follow-up to a great first volume. This volume answers the question what happened to Rasputin after he was killed by his friends in 1916. It starts out in our time and stays there for pretty much the first issue. I found this very confusing. The stuff with JFK was just dumb. Why change history if you don't show the impact of that change? Riley Rossmo is an enigma. His art can be frustratingly bad and great on the same page.

A MUST HAVE BOOK for all animal owners

I have owned this book for 4 years and with dogs, cats, horses and goats at home we have found great benefit. Our dogs at first were skeptical, but once they stayed still long enough they felt the energy moving. Now when Daddy sits down after his long day they jump on his lap, hang their head over his knees and wait for the laying on of hands. They lay quietly there for over an hour and hate for their time to end. This is very unusual. We have used this on goats with great success.

Our friends have now bought the book and we give it for gifts.

I am new to Jin Shin Jyutsu for myself so when I found this book for my animals I wanted to get it for them. I have not been disappointed. I really like this book. It is well done, the explanations are easy to understand and the artwork is very inspiring. Besides being written in English, the book also has the keys points written in French and in German. I found this book to be very well thought out. Actually, I carry this book with me everywhere so when I get a spare moment I open up the book and gain new knowledge. This is a "must have" book for me. I thank the author for taking the time to write it.

Your Animal will LOVE it!

Thank you Adele, for your really great book.
Using the powerful Japanese harmonizing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu, Adeles book is very simply laid out for use with all animals. I have basically bought up my Manx Kitty on JSJ from her very unstable beginnings over the last 3 years. The vet suggested I put her down. With lots of love, attention, homeopathic remedies, a special raw diet and especially JSJ - she is thriving. From the moment I did the spleen flow on her she was a different kitty. It has been particularly great with working with a kind of irritated/nervy back issue that sometimes Manx kitties suffer from.

She lets me know when she has had enough, or is really needing some help with healing. Animals seem to respond so well to this wonderful art. It has definitely saved us some anxiety and worry whether going to the vet for help or not - as it is very complimentary with anything else. All the animals that I make contact with using JSJ are very open to receiving.

If you are interested in helping you or your animal with healing - I highly recommend Jin Shin Jyutsu and this book!!

And I find the ring binding works great for keeping the book open to the page I want to work with.

Evelyn Anthony began her writing career after meeting her husband in 1949. Primarily self-taught, she was educated at home during the War--first writing short stories for magazines. She went on to achieve success with her historical romances and espionage and thriller stories. good story but not factual

In May 1944, a small French village is getting along peacefully with their Nazi occupiers until an OSS agent parachutes in with an important mission, one that could turn the tide of war. Many of the villagers are collaborators with the Nazis, including the count at the chateau. His wife, Louise, an American, has lost all respect for him because of his weak stance with the Nazis. A German officer is killed in mysterious circumstances and all hell breaks loose, with fearful retributions to the village. In the chateau lives a Nazi officer who is crazy with desire for Louise. All these circumstances create a great story and a suspenseful one. My problem with it is that Ms. Anthony should have had a WWII historian read the book before publication because of wincing factual errors. Or she should have had a better editor. Allan Dulles, the head of OSS in Bern did not know for certain that there were death camps in the Reich until the late fall of 1944. Of course most people knew about the concentration camps, but not extermination camps. Dulles had heard rumors of the death camps from escaping Polish officers, but nothing was confirmed until much later. French villagers in May 1944 certainly would not have known this. Ms. Anthony is a very talented writer and I have enjoyed several of her books, especially The Tamarind Seed. I just wish she had done more research for this one.

A wonderful novel

This is an outstanding novel. It is not the novel that Germans would like to read but for French people they should hopefully put it into the school libraries. A great deal has been written about the German occupation of France and how the Germans now complain that they were treated very badly after the War by French people who did not give thanks for the material help which individual Germans had given to the French people . Frau Minden talks of a debt as if the Germans were entitled to payment for providing food.. The French people showed great courage under German occupation .

You're buying this for your class, right?

You probably don't have a choice about buying this--it's a required text. Good news, it's a good text and a worthy read for someone looking for an overview of marketing communications. You'll need some other business education to get through it easily.

The authors believe it's very important that businesses be allowed to market directly to 4-year-olds. So they're ruthless, MBA sharks. But they know their stuff and they know how to convey it.
