Years ago I added Gua Sha to my Acupressure practice and discovered its amazing results. I've been teaching Gua Sha workshops and realized that a book would be very helpful for both lay people (learning to do it for their families and themselves) and for practitioners. This book has inspired us to help people understand the benefits of Gua Sha and is a great companion to our on-line class, which is available on our Learn Gua Sha web site.

About the Author
LETA HERMAN is an author, Five Elements and Chinese Medicine teacher, nationally certified acupressure practitioner, and co-author of The Energy of Love (Llewellyn 2014) and Connecting Your Circle (Born Perfect Ink 2014). A Smith College graduate and former nationally syndicated journalist, Leta has immersed herself in the philosophies of Daoism, Alchemical Healing, and Chinese Medicine, as well as many other healing modalities. Leta has devoted the past fifteen years to learning everything possible about the Five Elements. No more colds!!!

Working in an elementary school with a compromised immune system, I used to catch every cold going around. Not any more! This book guides you step-by-step through the ancient practice of Gua Sha--literally the most natural, non-toxic way to keep yourself, family, and friends healthy. Release toxins from your body with a simple scraping technique and all you need is a ceramic spoon! So useful and written in a way that is easy to learn--even for non-body workers like me! Color photographs, checklists, and even a link to video resources on the web... Invaluable! (And so much cheaper than sick days, copays, and cold medicine!)

Thanks to the authors for bringing this information forward to many of us
who had little or no exposure to Gua Sha. I attended their workshop and
watched with delight as we saw results right there in the workshop,
relieving people's aches and pains on the spot. We also learned about
use of the spoon and oil on family, friends, and ourselves for relief from
colds and minor injuries. Having the book as a reference makes this possible;
a good at-home medical guide.

Splendid addition for anyone who wants another aid for self & other care

Filled with helpful color photos and easy to follow instructions, this mini manual is a great reference for aspiring gua sha practitioners whether for family/friends/self or professional clients.
Loved the graphics and lay out of the book. Jump into gua sha and learn a technique that will free you from running to the doctor for many of those annoying everyday health incidents.
There are also plenty of traditional tidbits of Chinese medicine sprinkled throughout including an interesting discussion of "to ice or not to ice" which I found enlightening after years of wondering watching athletic daughters loading on the ice after injuries and strains.
Thank you Leta & Jaye for bringing forward this ancient art in such an accessible form !
